The long sandy beaches of the Jersey Shore
After the Jersey Shore Fine Art Festival in June of 2010, we decided to stay one day extra and spend that Monday all day on the beach by our hotel. It was a beautiful June afternoon with warm sun and a cool Atlantic breeze. I set up my travel easel 20' from the tide and painted the scene that I saw that day. I would take breaks laying down on the beach and just soaking up the sun and atmosphere. While I was painting, I said to my wife, Cindy, I think this is the happiest day of my life. Working on that painting, 1,500 miles from home, in a new and fun place, with still shows to do in New York and Chicago before heading back home to Oklahoma two weeks later was my idea of perfection. A great inspiration for art is traveling to see new places.
